CELL PHONE COSTS

I would like to know how I go about getting money back from an ex-employee for costs of a cell phone he used. This employee left the company but the account for the cell phone only came through a month after the person left. I have the itemised billing for the period, duration and calls made but do not have access to deduct this from a salary as the person was on commission and no funds were earned over the period the phone was used. How do I go about getting the funds back. Can I issue a letter of demand?

I presume he was liable to pay for calls. If you are a sole trader go to the small claims court. If you are a CC or a PTY you'll have to sue out of the magistrates' court. If the amount is small, send a demand and if fails to pay just let go of the matter as you'll end up spending more on wasted time, energy and legal costs than it's worth.
