Do I pay or not

I had an Edgar’s account which was last paid on the 2nd of April 2004. I got this account as a temporary employee earning R12.47 p/hr @ 24 hours p/wk. I was contacted by VVM Inc on 05/05/2010 to inform me that legal action will be taken against me as I have an outstanding balance of R4064. I was told that the last payment made to this account was on the 02nd of April 2004 to the amount of R200. No communication has occurred between myself and Edgar’s for over 6 years. I have not used this account for more than 7 years. I have no idea what is going on. They don’t even have the proper address for me, the have the old address where resided 10 years ago. In the interim I’ve moved twice, the second address they should be well aware of. No correspondence has been sent to any of my previous addresses. I checked with family members. It is now years later and they tell me this? This has also not reflected on my credit record as I’ve received credit from numerous institutions over the past 8 years. None of whom have had any complaints about debt I have at Edgar’s. How do I go about resolving this. Do I  just pay them my hard earned cash?

Immediately, as you are entitled to get a full statement of the how the amount is calculated, be sent to you. It is possible that you changed you address and therefore they could not get hold of you. Then you revert to me for further advice!

I am a south african resident and i have been working abroad in Europe and also USA for the last 8 years.

I am only in South Africa 30 days out of the year to visit friends and family.

What is the laws for paying income tax when you are out of the country most of the time and earning your money from an offshore source.

handed over for an old account from 2007 only now??
I needed a medical equipement from Vital Air in MAY2007, the Medical Aid Discovery Authorised it, Vital Air even now provided the proof that it was authorised, but it seems between then and SEPT 2009 no one really submitted it in time and thus the medical aid only paid about R460 out instead of the R8000 estimated bill. When queried, I still had all the answers except that. They now another year since they contacted me handed me over....all this debating took another year to date, they since took the machine back but now there is R1680 outstanding and they insist I must pay. None of my details changed since 2007, they realised only now the account is due. still no explanation of why only now. now the question is there a law or right protecting me from companies like this who are only sending accounts now?? there was even an RAF case where we had to submit all these things and I called in NOV 2007 for all these documents and no word of an outstanding account. where does this leave me?
