commission owed

I am owed commision by a Real Estate Principal. The money was paid to him by a Conveyancer but the Principal claims that his bank used all the money in reduction of his overdraft, so he cannot pay me. Is legal action to get my money my only recourse and is the Principal obliged to pay me interest?

yes but do this quickly. It will help if you get an acknowledgement of debt in writing.
