taking my job

Our company recently rentrenched workers due to financial isues. They retrenched people per department on a last in first out basis. The bookeeper that was retrenched wants to take my position (she was retrenched). I am a buyer who started workin for the company 3 months after her. Is it possible for her to take my position, she claims that she is able to do my work although she has never done this type of work in her life. What rights do I have??

I understand from the facts that you gave that the bookeeper was retrenched already. One method in a retrenchment that an employer can apply is that of "bumping" where one employee is moved into another employee's position, when one employee has more service at an employer. But this should have taken place during the employment process and applied by the employer. The bookeeper has no right to demand your position after retrenchment.
